Blueberry Muffin Green Smoothie

This smoothie is full of power food. It includes real fresh and then frozen blue berries which are full of antioxidants and greens full of vitamins and fiber.
What is an antioxidant? Well it is highly scientific of course.  Your cells are made of molecules, which are made of atoms.  Atoms are made of protons and electrons.  In a complex process of using food molecules for food, occasionally we are left with a proton that has broken free of the electron.  It bounces around the cells causing havoc and destroying the cell membranes, this is a free radical.  An antioxidant is an atom from a molecule of food that can attract the free radical which becomes part of the atom, thus stabilizing it.  You can see how important antioxidants are for your body on the molecular scale, which is the building blocks of the body and its functions.

The greens in this smoothie are full of fiber, which helps the digestion.  Fiber also scrubs the walls of the intestines pulling out toxins.
The greens are also a good source of vegetable protein and also contain antioxidants.
To prepare this smoothie you need to start the night before.
Freeze the greens, berries and bananas.  You will need a powerful blender to make this smoothie a pleasant texture. I use the Blend tec.  A Vitamix will work great as well.

I do not recommend using the dairy isle coconut milk.  It is full of processed sugars and is mostly water.  If you like that stuff for drinking and cereal, you can make it yourself a lot cheaper if you use canned coconut milk. I use about 1/4 of a can of coconut milk and mix that with about 4 cups of water and sweeten it with stevia and dash of salt.  You can use it in your cereal or drink it as you would the So Coconut brand.  At my local stores it goes for about $2.40 a can.  I can make a whole gallon for $2.40 as opposed to the $3.50 it costs for the pre-made half gallon.  For this smoothie we will use it straight out of the can.
I do not add ice to my smoothies generally, because we drink them as meals and ice can really water them down.

Ingredients: put in this order into your blender

4 oz Canned or fresh made coconut milk.
1 2/3 cups water (I just fill my blender up to the 2 cup line with the coconut milk in there)
1/4 cup Oats
2 handfuls of frozen blueberries.  (freeze them yourself when they are ripe and on sale and save yourself a lot of $$$)
2 cups frozen greens, not packed to densely.
2-3 large frozen bananas.  NO PEEL, cut up before freezing in to thirds or fourths.
1 tbl of truvia stevia powder (liquid would probably be one dropper full)
1 tbl chia seeds.
Cinnamon, about 1/4 tsp
Run the blender on smoothie setting or slowly turn it up to the highest setting for 1 minute and enjoy!
